Finance is being made available by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) “to provide support for local and regional projects that will contribute to healthy markets for recycled materials nationally”.

The funding is designed to assist both WRAP’s priority waste streams, including plastics, together with other streams including waste electrical and electronic materials.

The funding, a total of £10 million, is to be allocated over a three year period, beginning with the first call opening on December 15th with a fund of £5 million. This initial allocation will consist of two stages – outline applications (pre-qualification), followed by full applications.

The criteria against which application will be considered include contribution to the target of 373,000 tonnes by 2006 and commercial viability following conclusion of funding.

Further details, including eligibility, criteria and application details are available from WRAP’s website at www.wrap.org.uk or contact WRAP’s fund management team on 01296 423915.
